Using a walk-through metal detector, police engaged with members of the public and carried out reassurance checks, helping to deter anyone who may be carrying items that could cause harm.

A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said;

“We appreciate the support and positive conversations we had throughout the day — your cooperation plays a vital role in helping us maintain a safe and welcoming town centre for everyone.

The overall aim is not just enforcement, but to prevent harm and protect communities, especially young people who may be at risk of becoming involved in violence.”
