Weston Crematorium & Cemetery has been forced to close due to a gas leak, which has resulted in funerals that were due to take place tomorrow being relocated to other sites in the area
A spokesperson for Weston Crematorium & Cemetery said: “Due to an unexpected gas leak, Weston Crematorium & Cemetery is temporarily closed and the site is currently not accessible.
Unfortunately this means services today are unable to take place as scheduled. We are in the process of contacting the affected families and our local funeral director partners directly.
The grounds are also temporarily closed and will remain inaccessible until it is safe to reopen.
We are working closely with the relevant teams to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and will keep you updated as soon as we have further information.
We sincerely apologise for any upset and inconvenience this unforeseen situation may cause and we will keep you updated.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and support while we work to safely reopen the site.”
