A 15yr old girl has accused a hotel cleaner of grabbing her and making inappropriate comments whilst she stayed at The Savoy Hotel, Weston Independent News can exclusively report

The male who is alleged to have carried out the attack has been described as a light brown male with a heavy accent and broken English, according to the girls mother

Avon & Somerset Police are investigating a report of an assault at the hotel. No arrests have been made as of today.

The girl who can not be named for legal reasons, was staying at the hotel with her family and on Saturday returned back to the hotel alone to get a drink from her room as the rest of her family remained at Marine Lake.

It is alleged that she returned to her hotel room on Birnbeck Rd, but struggled to open her door and it was at this point that it is alleged a male approached her, who was seen earlier in the day by the girl cleaning rooms at the hotel, and he offered to help unlock the door.

Once the door was open the girl went to enter the room when she alleges she was grabbed by her arm by the male who then pushed the door fully open and stepped inside whilst saying “you are very beautiful, do you have a boyfriend?”

The victim claims she then shouted at the male to get off of her and get out of the room but he continued to verbally harass her before she was able to finally pull her arm away and push him out the door before closing it.

The girl ran to her family at Marine Lake and told her mother what had happened. The family then returned to the hotel and the victims mother alleges that when the manager at the hotel was made aware of the incident in front of other members of the public, the family were labelled as “trouble makers” by him and some guests present who were due to book in, refused to do so and requested a refund.

The girls mother further alleges that when she demanded to view the CCTV of the incident, it showed the male loitering in the area and following her daughter round the corner of the hallway out of view from CCTV, but that the audio of the incident with her daughter shouting and what the male said can still be clearly heard.

The male was described by the victim as being a male in his 30s, approximately 5ft 10 inches tall, with dark hair and a short goaty beard. On the day the incident took place he was wearing dark trousers and a green t shirt with “Love” written on the back. He was of light brown complexion with a heavy accent and spoke with broken English.

The girls mother told Weston Independent News:

“When I said I was calling the police, the staff member said, no police, don’t ring the police, its ok I’ve sacked him. I tried to explain how serious it was but he just got angry as people were demanding refunds as they didnt feel safe. I told him we were leaving and he wasn't happy.

A guest who was in the reception of the hotel when the family were speaking to the manager about the incident, spoke to Weston Independent News on the condition of anonymity and said: “Whilst waiting, another family was complaining that a worker had attempted to pull their 15 year old daughter into another empty room. The managers response to the family was to tell them the worker had been sacked, and not to report it to the police.”

A statement issued by Avon & Somerset Police said:
