Hospice gardens open to the public for summer event following last years sell out

A popular event which sees the beautiful gardens at St Peter’s Hospice open to the public, is returning this June.

The annual Open Gardens Day, which last year sold out, is taking place on Sunday 7 June where guests can enjoy the impressive and much-loved Hospice gardens in bloom.

As well as having the opportunity to spend time in the beautiful and welcoming outdoor space, there will be relaxing and creative workshops, local performers, live music, handmade crafts to purchase and interesting tours from head gardener Anneke van Eijkern.

Refreshments will also be available including homemade cream teas.

Anneke, who joined the St Peter’s Hospice team in 2023 having previously worked at the Royal Gardens at Highgrove, said:

“Our gardens are created by our community, for our community. Volunteers, staff and supporters make them a welcoming, therapeutic space for patients and visitors.

“Through our Open Gardens Day, we aim to build and strengthen connections with members of our local community, everyone is welcome. It’s a great opportunity to relax with loved ones and learn more about what we do.

“Every ticket purchased and every donation made helps local patients and their families get the care they deserve. It’s so important for patients and visitors to look out and see a beautiful environment, or to be able to come outside for some peaceful reflection. Events such as this make all the difference in helping us to provide that.”

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice providing in-patient care as well as well as community support to those with life-limiting illnesses.

The event will take place at the Hospice from 10am-4pm on Sunday 7 June.

Open to all ages, tickets cost £8 for adults and £2 for ages 18 months-17 years.
