Avon & Somerset Police have secured a temporary restricted airspace from the Secretary of State for Transport, meaning no drones can fly within the restricted area over the course of the Summer Fest weekend.

A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said;
“From Friday 5 June to Sunday 7 June, Weston-super-Mare will host Summer Fest along the seafront. To help keep everyone safe, Avon and Somerset Police have secured a temporary restricted airspace, authorised by the Secretary of State for Transport.
This means drones must NOT be flown in the restricted area around Weston-super-Mare during the following times:
Friday 5 June: 12:00–23:30
Saturday 6 June: 12:00–23:59
Sunday 7 June: 12:00–23:59
Our dedicated drone team will be in the area throughout the event and has the capability to respond to any drones being flown illegally. At previous large-scale events, unauthorised drones have been intercepted and seized.
Where possible, we aim to take an education-first approach, helping drone users understand the law and fly safely. However, enforcement action will be taken where necessary to protect public safety.”
