Police issue advice to not give burglars the gift their looking for this Christmas

Avon & Somerset Police have issued advice to residents to be on the guard against burglars this Christmas season.

A spokesperson said; “Don’t let burglars turn your Christmas into a nightmare, stay secure, stay smart and share these tips to help others do the same”

✅ Check that doors and windows are locked.

✅ Keep house and car keys out of sight and reach.

✅ Fit good quality locks or bolts to outside doors, garages and sheds.

✅ Invest in a signal blocking pouch (Faraday Bag) to prevent keyless car thefts.

✅ Use security lights with sensors.

✅ Going away? Use time switches to turn on lights and radios to give the impression someone is home. Cancel deliveries and don’t advertise on social media that you are away.

✅ Don’t make your home a shop window. Leave Christmas presents out of sight.

✅ After the big day, don’t advertise your Christmas gifts by leaving packaging on show outside. Take it directly to your local household recycling centre.
