TG Jones on Weston High St to close

In yet another blow to the High St in Weston-super-Mare, TG Jones (formerly WH Smith) has announced it is set to close with the loss of an unknown number of jobs.

The store is currently advertising it is closing down with discounts on stock ranging between 10% and 30%.

The news comes as the future of nearby Poundland continues to hang in the balance as negotiations

continue between its administrator-in-waiting and stakeholders.

The risk of not just one, but two large retail stores on the High St closing in the run up to Christmas period come at time when significant areas of the town including Waterloo St are left with vacant units. Many of them for a significant period of time.
