Walliscote Primary School celebrates the end of Ramadam with a joyful Eid Party

Walliscote Primary School came together on Friday 27 March to celebrate the end of Ramadan with a vibrant and inclusive Eid Party.
Pupils, staff, and families joined in marking the occasion, which highlighted the school’s commitment to recognising and valuing the diverse cultures within its community.
The celebration featured a feast with delicious food provided by Pappadoms and Aisha’s kitchen, alongside traditional treats, creative activities, and opportunities for children to learn about the significance of Eid al-Fitr.
Families were invited to share their traditions, fosteringunderstanding and appreciation among pupils of all backgrounds.
The Mayor of Weston-super-Mare Councillor Martin Williams and Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset Denis Burn Esq MBE DL also joined the celebration.
Both were interviewed by Walliscote’s new Good News Room reporter’s who confidently asked insightful questions about life as a Mayor and as a representative of the King.
Headteacher Shelley Flanagan said;
“Our Eid Party is a wonderful way to celebrate our school community. Events like this help our children learn from one another and develop a sense of belonging, respect, and joy. We are so proud of our whole community and plan to make this party an annual celebration to help us celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our families.”
Parents praised the initiative and event with one parent saying; “My child is really proud to celebrate their being a Muslim and Eid in the school” and another said; 'It is great to learn about other cultures and enjoy the food'.
