Dan Aldridge MP urges Weston groups to apply for Armed Forces Day Funding

Up to £500,000 of funding is available this year to support Armed Forces Day celebrations across the United Kingdom, and Weston-super-Mare’s MP, Dan Aldridge, is encouraging local organisations to apply.

Every year, local authorities, schools, sports clubs, charities and community organisations bring people together to honour serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families.

Weston groups have the opportunity to bid for up to £10,000 to host their own Armed Forces Day event.

Events can include community picnics and barbecues, parades along the seafront, musical performances, stands hosted by local military units and veterans’ charities, family activities, and talks from inspiring service personnel.

Applications close on 30 March 2026.

This funding forms part of the Labour Government’s renewed commitment to those who serve, including record investment in forces’ housing, the largest pay rise in two decades, strengthening the Armed Forces Covenant, and delivering a landmark veterans’ strategy.

Dan Aldridge MP said;

“Weston-super-Mare has always proudly backed our Armed Forces community. From veterans living across our town to families currently serving, their contribution and sacrifice must never go unrecognised.

“I strongly encourage local community groups, schools, charities and organisations to apply for this funding so we can host a fantastic Armed Forces Day event right here in Weston. I will gladly support any local bid to help bring people together.

“This is a chance for our whole community to say thank you, and I look forward to celebrating alongside our service personnel in June.”

Armed Forces Day takes place on 27 June 2026, marking the culmination of Armed Forces Week, which begins on Monday 22 June.
