Weston Youth Council is asking people to sign a petition calling on the introduction of political education to coincide with the reduction in voting age to 16yrs old.
Oliver Masley, 15, who is the Communications Officer for Weston Youth Council said;
“Something our youth councillors have been discussing in our meetings is the benefits that would emerge from the introduction of political education for young people following the introduction of legislation allowing 16 year olds the vote that was introduced last June!
It turns out this is something young people across the country are passionate about, and the UK Youth Parliament have started a petition, needing only 10,000 responses for the government to write a response, and 100,000 to be debated in Parliament!”
