Inclusive creative music courses for 8-14yr olds this May and summer holidays

The West of England Music and Arts are launching two new inclusive music-making opportunities in Weston for young people with low level additional needs or barriers to learning.
“Unscripted” will take place during the may half-term which will comprise of a creative music course for young people aged 8 to 13 (Years 4-8) who have low level additional needs. Organisers say; “ it will provide a fun, safe and creative space for young people to explore, discover and create music, guided by professional musicians” and no previous musical experience is needed!l.
The event will take place on Tuesday May 27th & Wednesday 28th May, 10.30am to 3.00pm at Milton Park Primary School.
The course has free places available for people who face financial barriers to attending, and a standard cost of £30 per child, with an additional £15 for every children from the same household.
WEMA will also host later in the year “Sounds Unlimited” which is a new music group for young people age 9 to 14 (school years 5 to 9) who face barriers to learning, such as anxiety or neurodivergence.
Organisers say; “it offers a fun and relaxed way to learn and write music and you don’t need any previous musical experience, and you will not be expected to learn to read music unless you would like to.
The event will take place on Tuesdays June 10th, 17th, 24th, July 1st, 8th, 4.30-6.00pm at the For All Healthy Living Centre on Lonsdale Avenue.
There will be free places available if cost would stop your child taking part or £20 per child for the 5-week course.
