A male child was approached last night by two men, dressed in black and wearing balaclavas whilst he was walking back from a friends house on Selworthy Rd.

The father of the child took to social media last night to ask if anyone had witnessed the incident saying; “Does anyone know anyone that lives near the donkeys on the Bournville, a white transit new with two males in black with baliclavas just tried grabbing my son, if anyone knows or sees of anything please give me a shout”

A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said:

“An investigation is underway following a report that two men approached a child in Weston-super-Mare yesterday (1 November) and tried to grab him.

The incident, which is believed to have taken place near the junction of Selworthy Road and St Ives, was reported to police by a parent of the child after they returned home immediately after the incident.

It is understood that two men, dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, approached the child after exiting a white Ford Transit van, but that they did not make physical contact with the child.”

Inspector Paul Chaplin: "This is a concerning incident and we're working to identify these two men and establish the full circumstances of what happened.

"Officers attended within minutes of the call being received and have spoken to the boy and his family. We will continue to update them as our investigation progresses.”

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time or who has any doorbell or CCTV footage which could help the investigation should call 101 using reference 5226355342.
