Police issue update on Italian Gardens stabbing

Police have released further information regarding the stabbing that took place yesterday evening in Weston Town Centre

A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said:

"We were called at around 10.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 12 August) to the Italian Gardens, in Weston-super-Mare, from the North Somerset CCTV Control Room reporting an altercation involving two men.

"In the incident, a 30-year-old man sustained a puncture wound to the stomach, which is not thought to be life-threatening or life changing.

"The suspect and victim are thought to be known to each other and we do not believe there is a risk to the wider public.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and Neighbourhood Policing officers remain in the area conducting high-visibility reassurance patrols.

"Anyone with information or who witnessed or heard the incident are asked to call 101 and quote reference 5226227308."
