Reform wipe floor with all but Lib Dem’s in Hutton & Locking by-election
Reform romped home in yesterdays by-election on North Somerset Council leaving all but the Lib Dem’s in disarray.
Reform’s William Jones was elected for Hutton and Locking in Thursday’s September 10 by-election, held after the death of long-serving Conservative councillor Terry Porter.
Cllr Jones secured 706 votes, finishing ahead of Liberal Democrat candidate Georgina Barry, who received 612 votes.
Conservative candidate John Standfield ended third with 281 votes, followed by Labour's Yue Parkinson on 133 votes and Green Party candidate James Willis-Boden on 104 votes.
Councillor Jones said: "It's been a hard fought campaign, but it's the honour of my life to have been elected to represent our community.
"While it's easy to get swept up in an election, it's important to remember why it happened in the first place.
"Councillor Terry Porter was a dedicated and passionate Councillor for Hutton & Locking for many years, and he's left some mighty big shoes to fill."
