A major milestone has been reached in the launch of Weston’s first ever MP Summer School, as local MP Dan Aldridge today announced the headline speakers who will inspire and engage young people in the town this summer.

Set to take place at the iconic Grand Pier, the 2025 Weston MP Summer School is aimed at 14-18 year-olds, offering hands-on learning, skills workshops, and the chance to hear from leaders across tech, media, politics, and business - all in a free, accessible local setting.
Confirmed speakers include:
🟦 Casey Calista, Meta
🤳 Freddie Cook, Snap
🎨 Niels Stevens, Adobe
🏛️ Leigh Ingham MP, Labour MP
📰 Journalists from ITV News
🎤 Andrew Scott, local businessman and entrepreneur
🏛️ Max Wilkinson MP
From technology and innovation to journalism, public service and business, this is a rare chance for young people in Weston to learn from some of the most influential voices shaping the world - and ask them questions face to face.
Dan Aldridge MP said: “I’m so proud of the incredible line-up we’ve confirmed - a mix of national leaders and local role models coming together to show our young people just what’s possible.
We want every teenager in Weston to know that their future can start right here. Whether they dream of running a business, designing tech, reporting the news or making change in their community - this summer school will help open those doors.”
The programme responds to a growing concern about post-16 opportunities in the area. In 2024, just 27.7% of 18-year-olds in Weston applied to university, the lowest since 2013 and below the national average. Apprenticeship and college participation rates are also lagging, limiting the pathways available for young people.
By connecting participants with inspiring people and practical advice, the Weston MP Summer School aims to raise aspirations, build confidence, and celebrate the talent already here in Weston.
Hosted at The Grand Pier and supported by the Ascot Group, who are providing food and refreshments, the summer school will also include networking, skills sessions and careers guidance.
“This is just the beginning,” Dan added. “If you’re aged 14-18 and want to explore careers in media, politics, tech or beyond - sign up while spaces last!”
