The band – who are playing here later this month - love nothing more than going into town and grabbing one of our sticks of rock as souvenirs.
Original drummer Romeo Challenger laughed: “We have been coming to Weston for years. And I have bought sticks of rock there many times before. I love it.

“Some of the newer guys in the group love going out and exploring Weston too. I’ve told them it has some of the best fish and chips.
“And we have also seen the tide come in many times but I don’t think I’ve ever ridden on a donkey!”
The rockers found fame in the 1970s with hits such as Hey Rock’n’Roll, Under The Moon Of Love and Three Steps To Heaven and went on to sell more than 20 million records.
Line-ups have changed over the 50-plus years that they have been together but original singer Dave Bartram is also still with the group but now manages them.
Romeo, who is now 75, says he ‘really likes’ The Playhouse in Weston where they will be playing a gig.
And he added: “Seaside audiences are great. They are extremely appreciative of the entertainment. I mean a percentage of them will be from out of town as they might be on holiday but we've always had a good reception from Weston.
“We will try and fit as many of our hits into the show as possible and we hope no one leaves disappointed. I mean if we left out some of our biggest songs like You Got What It Takes and Under The Moon Of Love there’d be a stampede!”
Romeo joked that although Showaddywaddy still enjoyed screaming fans at their gigs, one aspect had changed since their 1970s heydays.
He laughed: ““We used to get knickers thrown at us on stage but now we get bloomers!”
* Showaddywaddy will be performing at The Playhouse on Thursday July 30 and tickets are available now.
