Bournville Primary School closing at midday due to burst water main

A spokesperson for Bournville Primary School said:

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, Bournville Primary School will be closing by 12:00pm today, 29 September 2026 having been alerted by the water company, Bristol Water, of a burst water main on land adjacent to the school.

All children and staff are safe and unaffected, as there is currently a sufficient amount of drinking water available.

The school will close at 12:00pm. Pupils should be picked up by their parents or guardians by 12:00pm.

As a result of this issue, we are experiencing very low water pressure across the school.

This means we cannot reliably provide essential services, including:

• safe and adequate toilet facilities

• handwashing facilities for pupils and staff

• access to running water throughout the building

• appropriate hygiene and cleaning arrangements.

  
  

The health, safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff must always come first. Unfortunately, without a sufficient water supply, we are unable to operate the school safely and therefore have no option but to close until the issue has been resolved.

We are working closely with the water company to monitor the situation and will provide an update as soon as we have further information. We will make a decision at 5:00pm today as to whether school can reopen tomorrow, Wednesday 30 September 2026.
