Emergency services attend Mendip Green School with staff member taken to hospital

Mendip Green Primary School on Greenwood Rd, issued a letter this afternoon to parents after emergency services attended the school due to a “medical emergency” involving a member of staff.

An initial statement issued by the school via their Facebook page said:

“Dear Mendip Green School parents and carers.

We currently have a medical emergency on site due to a situation with a member of staff. A number of emergency services have attended the site.

Regrettably, we need to cancel our Opal Play event today due to staff wellbeing.

Thank you for your understanding”

Subsequently a letter was circulated to parents and carers said:

“During lunchtime a member of staff who works with some of our children in Key Stage 1, was taken ill.

As a result, the emergency services were called to attend the school and the member of staff was taken to hospital

Please be reassured that the children were safe and well cared for at all times. Staff responded quickly and sensitively, ensuring that children were kept away from the immediate area and did not witness what was happening

We have spoken appropriately with the children this afternoon to explain that a member of staff had become unwell and an ambulance had attended the school.

We felt it was important to provide children with clear, factual information and reassurance, rather than allowing rumours or misinformation to spread
